21 Months of Hibernation & World is Never The Same Again

...been 21 months since my last blog post. Well, I was busy running Tor networks for homeless, hanging out with 4chan mobs, playing Tetris with Lulz ;) Too much heat in the underworld right now.. _/\_ anonymous army is ripping the world apart, citing exploration of beauty in Chaos as a reason. Not a clue how it makes everything right..but absolutely enjoyed the humor part of it though. None of those wikileaks cables seemed to have disturbed this planets perfect harmony with its ruling species [so called Homo Sapiens]. Things look pretty much the same in US, China, India, except for the fact that Mr.Assange got grounded in UK. Smart fellow John Nash knew it ages ago "Chaos can never be a possible outcome in this world, as long as all agents wanna play it safe" [Game theory]

Well! World hasn't fallen apart in the meanwhile, but certain things has changed forever as we know.

My current mobile is faster than my laptop was 21months ago.
QR codes turned out to be new stamps.
Last time I'd received a personal email was 21months ago.
Klout score is the new date pass ;)
Damn! 21months it's been ever since I used my DVD drive. Steve Jobs was right after all. Mac book Air is the real deal.
Buzzword 'Social' is the new craze among Blondes..Yes! they get it too.

Made Easy: 'Ubuntu' Nvidia / ATI Graphic drivers installation. _Envy

Self configuration of X-server and installation of private vendors graphic card drivers was very difficult for novice users in the past. Many users have faced lot of difficulties to finish this task, even I'm one of 'em who'd wish for some automation for this task. Envy NG is a python script written for Ubuntu and Debian distributions intended to detect the graphic card model and install appropriate drivers with full functional dependencies and self configures the Xserver.

However automatic detection can be overridden with 'manual installation'.Envy consists of both GUI and Textual interface.

Now download the Envy-ng package.
Envy can be installed directly from the apt package manager channel.
Open terminal. 'gnome-terminal'
Type the command '$sudo apt-get install envyng-core envyng-gtk envyng-qt' to get it installed.

For less installation size avoid downloading 'qt' and install only 'envyng-core'. This will install textual interface rather than GUI.

*Note: Only Nvidia & ATI cards are supported for now.

GUI & Textual Interface

Using GUI:

Goto > Applications > System Tools > Envyng.

Select the driver you wish to install and give it a go.

Using Textual UI:

Go to terminal and run this command '$ sudo envyng -t'

Enter the number of the task shown in textual UI according to the requirement and rest of the job will be taken care by envy.

This user friendliness is expected in all other modules of Linux to attract new users to its base.

Reverse Image Search (Image - -)

I’ve always imagined of a reverse image search which would traverse the index to deliver the identical images from the web based on the received input image. This is very useful if you have an image, but you don’t remember or probably unaware of what it depicts in the picture. It can come handy if you need some good resolution copy of the same picture.

What is TinEye ?

TinEye is a reverse image search engine. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks.

TinEye tries to do that and the best part is that it mostly succeeds. The new image search engine, powered by Idée's technology and currently in private beta, has an index of 487 million images (Google's index is at least 12 times bigger) and manages to find identical versions of an image or alterations. TinEye frequently returns image results with colour adjustments, added or removed text, crops, and slight rotations. TinEye can also detect images that are part of a collage or have been blended with another image.

By default, your results are sorted by 'best match'. However you can also sort by 'worst match', 'biggest image' and 'smallest image'. TinyEye is available as a plugin for Firefox and IE to facilitate its use directly from the browser. Even Opera, Safari and Chrome users can use it by adding its Bookmarklet.

TinEye searches for your image on the web by comparing its fingerprint to the fingerprint of every single other image in the TinEye search index

What kind of images can U submit to TinEye?

File type: JPEG, PNG and GIF image are all acceptable.

Image dimensions: TinEye works best with image that are at least 300 pixels in either dimension, but can accept images as low as 100 pixels in either dimension.

File size: 1 megabyte is the maximum file size.

Watermarked images: For best results, visibly watermarked images should be avoided as TinEye may search for the watermark and not the image itself.

No wonder google is looking after Idee to capture this new form of data segmentation.

Twitter client in 'GO'

For those who haven't heard of, 'GO' is a new programming language unveiled by Google
and we should perhaps be unsurprised to find that one of the first user programs to emerge from the new language is… a Twitter client. Bear in mind it’s a very simple and utilitarian client that runs from the command line — not a nice and flashy graphical user interface version like TweetDeck. Lets get it installed and run the first ever application written in go.

" WWW2 WWW1 " ? in detail......

Have you ever wondered about the unusual domain prefixes WWW2 or WWW1. If you are a cyberpunk like me you sure have observed many links while crawling through google or yahoo. We normally come across such type of domains when browsing through large sites.Its not INTERNET 2 or something else running by gov's or .Corp's . Usually Search engine giants, Online shopping sites and important government sites, corporations use them as secondary hosts as they cant entertain any down time.

The basic intention of these prefix technique is to attain load balancing when main server is down for maintenance.So they maintain a backup of the mainframe in a remote server for redundancy which runs on the secondary domain prefixes such as "www2.sandbox.google.com" and "http://www2.coca-cola.com". Some times different versions of the same site is also loaded in this redundant domains to serve people based on their locations differed by their language. These prefixes are not operative all the time even when they do, user will be redirected automatically to the main domain.

Don't think it's a phishing attack or something else when you come across these prefixes.

When you look at a URL like:

http://www2.coca-cola.com

The URL can be broken down into:

http:// - The protocol used (like a radio frequency)

www2 - The hostname of the server

coca-cola - The name of the Corporate Domain (maintained by the company)

.com - The Top-level Domain (Maintained by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)

If you pay close attention to the address bar of your browser, you may catch the hostname change periodically while surfing a site. This just means that the site has several servers working in conjunction (too big to have on one host).

The only time you should worry is if you see the Corporate Domain change (like from coca-cola to cocacola). Not always a problem, but some phishers use these kinds of domain names to catch people unaware (you think you are on a legitimate site but it is actually a trap to get your personal info)

PEAR - PHP Extension and Application Repository

PEAR is an advanced framework and distribution system for reusable PHP components.

Consider creating a php form which should be mailed back to the client on filling. In a normal scenario this task is a piece of cake for even a novice developer like me. But when you try to do the same task with a form consisting of file attachments this mailing task seems to be pretty creepy to implement.

In this difficult times the great mail classes of PEAR framework will be handy.The above task can be implemented easily by adding PEAR classes to the email function. PEAR classes are of great use for sending emails however, they need to be handled and configured correctly.

Users can download the PEAR framework from here.

Installation:
The basic installation of PHP will most probably contains the basic classes of PEAR unless you have compiled your PHP with ./configure --without-pear.

The other packages which are out of the PHP installation loop can be installed by PEAR installation manager.

Locate the "go-pear.bat" file in your PHP installation location and run it. The setup will install the PEAR package manager in the path specified by you. Anyways you have to add that path to your PATH environment variables to make it work. You can either do it manually or run the newly created "PEAR_ENV.reg" file in the PHP source directory.PEAR manager can be accessed by "pear" command in command prompt.

If you are a linux user, with apt utility u can directly update your php extensions with apt get pear.
